Special Religious Education (SRE)

Forest Alliance is an approved provider of Special Religious Education in NSW schools (SRE). We ensure that all our teachers are properly trained to provide age-appropriate lessons to school-aged children through the following application and ongoing compliance process:

  • Completion of application form.

  • Current WWCC (Working With Children Check).

  • Complete ‘Creating Safe Spaces’ training program (provided by Baptist churches of NSW & ACT) every three years.

  • Complete SRE basic training before commencing any teaching:

  • SRE training procedures, responsibilities, duty of care, code of conduct, authorised curriculum, classroom behaviour management and classroom technology, e.g. interactive whiteboards.

  • Awareness of the Department of Education code of conduct.

  • Statement of core values.

  • Social media policy.

  • Complete SRE refresher course every three years.

  • Ongoing teacher feedback review process. This review process will guide the focus for ongoing teacher training and the topics identified will be included on the annual assurance to the department.

  • Use only our approved SRE curriculum provided by Youthworks and FACE (Forest Association for Christian Education )

  • Forest Alliance Church provides a letter to the school that clearly identifies the name of the authorised teacher(s), date of birth and contact details. This letter is updated annually at the start of term one or as required.
